Oaxaca is one of Mexico’s major gastronomic and historical cities.
The food is based on Mexican staples such as corn, beans and chiles, but also influenced by it’s indigenous cultures and is known, of course, for it’s molés.
Although not listed, it is safe and delicious to eat in the market or street and restaurants do serve potable drinking water.
The zocalo also offers choices of good, small cafes and restaurants and is a great place to people watch and observe activities in the main plaza.
